Taking an eLearning lesson
FollowWhen you open a lesson from an eLearning course, you enter the lesson viewer: a dedicated page where you can consume the content, move between the lessons of the course, browse the related learning materials and mark the lesson as complete — all without leaving the page.
Accessing the lesson viewer
The viewer opens automatically when you click an available lesson from the Lessons tab of your course enrollment. If you re-enter a course you have already started, the viewer opens directly on the last lesson you were viewing, or on the first lesson you have not yet completed if this is your first access.
How the viewer is organised
The page is divided into three areas.
Lesson list (left)
On the left you find the course summary and the list of all its lessons. At the top you see the course title (clickable, takes you back to the course page) and a progress bar showing how many lessons you have completed out of the total.
For each lesson the list shows:
- a status icon — green check if completed, play symbol for the lesson you are viewing or have started, progressive number if you have not opened it yet;
- the lesson title;
- the expected duration;
- the textual status: Completed, In progress or Not started.
The lesson you are currently viewing is highlighted. To move to another one, just click it.

When a lesson is not clickable
Depending on how the trainer has configured the course, some lessons in the list may not be openable. Clicking them shows a message explaining why:
- if the course does not allow reviewing completed lessons, the completed rows can no longer be reopened;
- if the course requires lessons to be taken in the predefined order, the lessons after the current one stay locked until you complete the previous ones.
Content area (centre)
The lesson content is loaded in the centre: a video, an image, a PDF, an external link (YouTube, Vimeo) or a SCORM package, depending on how the lesson was configured. If the content is not available, an informational message is shown instead of the player.
If the lesson content is still being imported into SCORM Cloud (for example because the lesson has just been created or updated), a message appears instead of the player inviting you to try again later. You do not need to do anything: as soon as the import completes, the lesson becomes available again as usual.
Learning materials (right-side panel)
If the course has learning materials attached at course level, the left list shows a Learning materials button with the number of available materials. Clicking it opens a side panel on the right that shows:
- for each material: a coloured thumbnail based on the file type (PDF, Word, Excel, image, video, external link, SCORM package, archive), the title, the optional category/description and the file size;
- an action button: for files uploaded to the platform it downloads the file with its original name; for external links (YouTube, Vimeo) it opens the content in a new browser tab.
The lesson video keeps playing even when you open or close the panel. To close the panel click the X at the top or anywhere outside the panel. The Learning materials button is not shown if the course has no attached materials.

Marking a lesson as complete
At the bottom of the page you find a button that changes according to the state of the course:
- Mark as complete — shown on lessons you have not yet closed. Click it to manually confirm that you have finished the current lesson;
- End course — appears when all the other lessons of the course are already completed. Click it to definitively close your enrollment in the course;
- no button — if the current lesson is already completed and there are still lessons to take, no button is shown, to avoid marking it as done again.
For lessons with content that is tracked automatically (videos, PDFs, SCORM with completion tracking) the lesson can be completed even without clicking the button, once the content has detected that you have consumed all the material. For SCORM content the behaviour of the button is described in the article Manually completing a SCORM lesson.
On smaller screens
On tablets, smartphones or narrow browser windows the lesson list is not always visible on the left: you open it by clicking the Lessons button at the top. When you select a lesson the list closes automatically to make room for the content.
Returning to the course page
To go back to the course page, click the course title in the left list. Your progress is saved automatically, so when you re-enter from your training dashboard you will resume exactly from the last lesson you were viewing.
Required permissions
To take the lessons of an eLearning course you must first be enrolled in the course (or the course must have been assigned to you by an administrator). The viewer opens directly from the Lessons tab of your enrollment: if you do not see that tab, you are not enrolled in the course.
