As the administrator of your company account you decide which modes your employees can use to punch from the app: in-app clock-in, QR code of the ClockPoint terminal and Bluetooth. The app offers the employee only the modes that are active for their user, so you can allow clock-in from a terminal without also opening up free clock-in from anywhere.

The three clock-in modes

Both terminal modes depend on the same right: by granting it you enable the QR code and, if the company has a terminal with Bluetooth enabled, Bluetooth as well.

How the app behaves

• No active mode: the CLOCK-IN and CLOCK-OUT buttons are not displayed.
• One active mode: tapping CLOCK-IN or CLOCK-OUT records the punch straight away, with no selection pop-up.
• More than one active mode: tapping CLOCK-IN or CLOCK-OUT opens the Select clock-in type pop-up, which lists the active modes only.

Example: terminal clock-in only

You want employees to punch exclusively from the terminal on site, without being able to clock in freely from the app from any location.

1. Grant users the Clock-in with the Altamira HRM Terminal app right.
2. Do not grant the Altamira Attendance: allow clock-in via mobile app right.

In the app the clock-in and clock-out buttons stay visible and the only mode offered is the QR code scan: tapping CLOCK-IN opens the camera directly. The in-app clock-in option is not displayed.

Assigning the rights

1. Go to Settings > Users.
2. Select the user or the group to configure.
3. Open the Rights tab.
4. For the in-app clock-in, enable Altamira Attendance: allow clock-in via mobile app.
5. For the terminal clock-in, under Other enable Clock-in with the Altamira HRM Terminal app.
6. Save.

You can also assign the rights by creating a dedicated group: Creating a user group.

Initial configuration

All Altamira accounts include a predefined group called Mobile Clock-in, which grants all active employees permission to punch from the app.

If you want to prevent free clock-in from the app, remove or disable the filter associated with the Mobile Clock-in group: in the group's Members tab clear the Filter name field or select a different filter.

Keep in mind that this only disables the in-app clock-in: if users still hold the terminal clock-in right, the clock-in and clock-out buttons remain visible in the app and offer QR code and Bluetooth.

Enabling Bluetooth on a terminal

The Bluetooth option is offered in the app only if the company has at least one terminal with Bluetooth enabled. Enable it from the user app, in Settings > Terminals: select the terminal, enable Bluetooth and save.

After a change to the rights

The app reads the configuration at login. To apply a change immediately, ask the employee to open their profile (picture at the top right), go to Settings and select Reload configuration.

The terminal list is refreshed periodically: if you have just enabled Bluetooth on a terminal, the option may appear in the app with a slight delay.

Permissions

• To configure rights of users and groups you need write permissions on the Users section of Settings.
• The Create terminal right (Rights > Other tab) is required by whoever has to activate and configure the terminals: the Settings > Terminals section appears in the app only with this right.
• Clock-in rights are assigned to the individual user account: make sure you have granted them to every user concerned, either directly or through a group.
